Welcome to part 8 of the walking tour and tutorial.
I am now going to go over what you find if you hit
the help button that is on the top of the Palace Software Screen
while you are in The City. If you hit the help key, it's right
beside the compass.. go ahead and hit it :-)
This is where you will come out. If you click on
the libary and Sheriff's Office, they aren't open yet, but.. City
Tours is open for business so go on inside and you can get more
familiar with The City.
Buffy up there is your tour guide and she highlights
each area and gives you a brief description of all the areas in
the city. Might be worth a looksie eh? This is how you will be
greeted.
Welcome to the Help Centre
Hi, my name is Buffy and I'll be your tour guide
for the next 13 minutes. Before we get started, as an official
hostess of The City(c)2001 I would like to welcome you to one
of the most exciting, most innovative ideas to come along in ages.
The City is a virtual reality community of people from all cultures
and walks of life. We have built a truly international community
here and we're pleased that you have decided to join us. I'll
begin our tour by familiarizing you with the different areas of
The City. When you have absorbed my comments for an area let me
know by clicking on the NEXT button.
The City(c)2001 is just like a real city except
it exists within the virtual space of the Internet. The area in
blue is our business section. A walk in this area reveals our
many shops that rent store front space within The City. You can
enter any building with signage and view the Internet web page
for that business.
The red area is the subway entrance to The City.
That is where you entered when you came in. It is also the entrance
to the International Market. The market is an actual city unto
itself. Its many indoor and outdoor shops have a decidely 'continental'
look. Street vendors, buskers and 'local' culture creates a unique
and exciting atmosphere. With this many shops from around the
world, 'Shop till you drop' takes on a whole new meaning.
The first of our game/adventure areas is shown
here in purple. The Forest contains both an Enchanted area and
a Haunted area. Local legend has it that there is a leprechaun
living in the Enchanted Forest. They say if you can catch him
and answer his riddles that he'll give you his pot of gold. And
if you're a brave hearted soul you may venture into the Haunted
Forest. I've heard tell of a haunted mansion there that is so
terrifying that it will turn your hair grey.
