Mother's Day
began during the middle ages in Europe as "Mothering Sunday". During
this time a young person would leave their home to learn their trade
as an apprentice. A few weeks before Easter celebrations many of these
young people would return to their homes and families. This was known
as "going a-mothering." Upon the Sunday after their return the family
would go to church and offer gifts to both their mothers and the church.
This day became known as Mothering Sunday. This tradition has endured
to become Mother's Day. I miss my Mother
every day of the year usually. Things come up and I wish she was here
with me, if nothing else just to listen to me and for me to know she's
always there, but she's not. My mother passed away when I was 11 years
old. The hardest times are at Christmas, but on Mother's Day, a day
just to pamper her, she's not here to pamper but is always in my thoughts.
My kids are beginning to be at the age now, to where they try and pamper
me on Mother's Day and that does ease the pain of missing my own mother.
I love you mom and I miss you. To all the mothers out there.. Happy
Mother's Day!!
