And for your viewing pleasure before I go back to my games on Facebook LOL .. Here is Chewbacca the spoiled rotten dog yesterday enjoying the breeze from the fan blowing on him as he did his normal nap time.

What a week already.

The first day of school for the boys was on Monday so, of course, that means waking up at 6:30 am every day again.. summer sure did go by fast. Boys seem to be back in the swing of things.. or at least they did until today. They both mysteriously didn’t feel good today. The older one’s computer bit the dust last night, seems the power supply went out. Then, I get ready to go to bed and set the alarm and my alarm clock bit the dust. Sheesh! Whomever is sending us their lovely bad mojo.. you can take it back! Send us your Good vibes.. your good luck mojo.. we need it… seriously, we do! oh yes, the air don’t work anymore in my car either… it’s like the air won’t blow out but yet it works, it’s just not strong unless you are driving, when you stop the car it stops LOL and it turns off when you turn it to 2, 3 or 4.

No luck on any of the jobs I applied for but, I did get a part time cash job on Saturday nights :-) hopefully with the little money I get every week this will help even more.

Almost forgot to mention that today is my Anniversary. Happy Anniversary to my wonderful hubby. Thanks for the past great 6 years of marriage and the 8 years of being with you so far. I love you just as much today as I did years ago.. if not more :-)

Baby, it’s HOT out there!!

Well, the south certainly does have it’s fair share of hot weather. Sometimes I think itgets too much of it’s share. July and August are always the hottest months but it’s usually August before we start getting 100. Here is today’s weather, and that was only at 2:30 pm. If you look very closely you will see that the heat index is 111 degrees. Can we say ouch? That’s some hot stuff, and with humidity being at 40% it’s just down right yucky!

I feel like I am pretty much writing to myself on here, except for the occasionally spammer that comes around and tries to put their useless links in my comments section. No offense people, but I don’t want your useless links in my comments. Comments are for comments, not your advertisements.

I was trying to do some job hunting this week but it’s just way too hot out there to be trying to drive all over 3 different cities with my air not working in my car. By the time I get anywhere, my hair is all over the place and I’m sweating to death. Not a pretty first impression, let me tell you! Plus, my black ink ran out on my printer and it’s kinda hard to print out the resume with no Black Ink!! I have the best of luck sometimes and then I have the worst of luck at times. They seem to always balance each other out. It would be super nice to have the good outweigh the bad for a change, but then again, I’ll take the balancing out over the bad gaining strength on the good! LOL

Well, enough from me for now, enjoy the weather everybody!

Just too good NOT to post! OMG!

No more debating in your underwear in Colo. town

Associated Press

ATHENS — BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The days when a citizen could address the Boulder City Council wearing only underwear may be over.

The council will vote on new decorum rules in September, seven months after a resident stepped up to a microphone in his boxers.

The rules were already under review, but that incident led to a proposed ban on undressing during meetings.

It’s not the first time the university town has wrestled with how much clothing is enough. In April, the city barred teens and adults from showing their genitals in public. That could put the wraps on two annual traditions that involve running or cycling naked.

But the council declined to outlaw topless females, despite complaints about a woman who gardens in a thong and gloves.

Today is my Birthday!

Although it’s only 8:30 in the morning, it’s turning out to be a pretty decent day so far. Friday night, my sister took me out to dinner and a movie, we went to see The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It was a good dinner and a rather good movie. I remember being terrified as a child of the original Fantasia! LOL Ok, maybe I wasn’t totally terrified, but I remember that movie kinda scaring me.

Anyway, my brother called me this morning at 8:00 am to wish me happy birthday and him and his wife and friends were over in Utah on the motorcycles about to head into a park for the day. I was totally impressed! He usually remembers my birthday late! LOL I hope they have a good ride today. One day I’ll venture past Mississippi and see some of the world!

Till next time, Have a great day!

Went job hunting today

Job hunting is torture! Enough said on that subject! LOL

I added a new link today. The 365 Things to do in Nashville link.

And for your viewing please.. here if my husband at my sisters house. We were checking out the new baby goats. They are SO cute!!!

Athens multi-tasker runs business while fighting leukemia

Jeremy Kiefer runs his own pressure washing business, volunteers for the Athens Police Department and is battling leukemia. Kiefer and John Yeager place a ladder so they can access the roof of a Decatur home for cleaning.

ATHENS — Jeremy Kiefer could be walking on top of a roof one minute, sitting in a doctor’s office having blood drawn the next and ending the day operating a driving-under-the-influence checkpoint.

Kiefer could teach lessons on multi-tasking if he decided to add one more item to his to-do list.

The Athens business owner has juggled multiple jobs since he was a teenager in college.

Now he is running a business and fighting cancer.

At age 17, Kiefer took classes at an Indiana college, managed a tuxedo store and ran his own window cleaning business.

At age 34, Kiefer is a husband and father, the owner of Clear Shine Maintenance and a reserve officer for Athens police.

Work hazards

Since December, his life has involved more than his usual multi-tasking. He has been designing a battle plan against chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

A doctor discovered the leukemia after deciding to do a blood test as a follow-up to Kiefer having e-coli earlier in the year.

“I was having panic attacks, and my equilibrium was off, so the doctors said we should do a full blood work,” Kiefer said.

Panic attacks and equilibrium issues are dangerous for Kiefer’s job, because he climbs ladders and gets on top of roofs as part of his cleaning business.

“This type leukemia is usually diagnosed in those 60 or older,” Kiefer said. “There’s not a lot of background for people my age.”

According to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, there are 15,490 new cases of CLL each year. It can cause loss of energy, shortness of breath, swollen lymph nodes and infections.

Waiting on chemo

This type of leukemia is slow-progressing, so Kiefer and his doctors have decided to wait until the disease affects his red blood cells before starting chemotherapy and doing a bone marrow transplant.

Once there are a high number of CLL cells in the marrow, they can crowd out normal blood-forming cells, and Kiefer will have to attack the cancer with chemo and a transplant.

Although Kiefer is taking the wait-and-see approach with leukemia, he is not taking that approach with his career. Between medical check-ups, Kiefer markets his business, oversees his crew of three, mixes chemicals, conducts demonstrations, operates the equipment and climbs onto roofs. His father, Stan, helps him run the business. They travel throughout North Alabama to provide residential and commercial cleaning.

Kiefer’s company uses a soft wash process to clean roofing shingles and the more common pressure washing process to clean chimneys, driveways, sidewalks and other structures.

“Many people don’t think about cleaning the roof,” Kiefer said. “The roof process is gentle and doesn’t void the warranty. It’s so soft you can put your hand in the stream of water. We put a detergent mix on the roof, and then when it rains, it cleans off the mold and debris.”

Kiefer said that no matter what his future holds, he will keep multi-tasking. When the time comes to put his focus on leukemia treatments, he will do so, but keep other projects going.

“I’m very one-track minded,” he said, “but at the same time, I have to have a lot of things going on. I focus on one thing at a time, but I have to have multiple things to focus on throughout the day.

Rain, rain, go away

But in all actuality, I don’t mind rain this time of year. I guess my favorite time of the year to have rain is summer, just because it gets so hot here and it cools it down so good. I really don’t like rain in the winter time because there is nothing like 30 degrees and rain!

Yesterday because it was such a dreary day, I literally could not stay awake and I ended up napping like 2 hours! I’m having that same feeling today and I hate that because when I nap in the middle of the day or even if I sleep too long one night I feel like total crap later…. usually for the rest of the day.

Speaking of naps. I can’t stay awake this morning and it might be a good time for a nap now.. instead of in the middle of the day LOL

Later all.
